Colchester Castle and George Hotel - Wedding Photography - Lynsey & Joe - Spring Wedding

What an incredible day, full of riotous colour, Spring blossoms, amazing style, laughter and a fantastic couple; Lynsey and Joe... What more could a photographer ask for?

The day started at The George Hotel in Colchester, where Lynsey, her Mum and her bridesmaids made their preparations, with the expert help of Betty's Rock & Rollers,  and Joe and his groomsmen got all shipshape and dapper ready for the big day.

We then headed over to Colchester Castle for the ceremony, and though the afternoon was filled with rain the day was kept beautifully bright with lovely colourful umbrellas and everyones' glorious grins and smiles.

The wedding was wonderfully individual, held in the Chapel Room of Colchester Castle.  With a retro 1950s style for the Bride and Bridesmaids, film and comic book touches throughout (including the bride walking up the aisle to the theme music from Jurassic Park!), Lego Action figures for favours, and sensational seasonal flowers in full technicolour glory the day represented so many aspects of the lovely couple.

The ceremony was tremendously touching with vows written by the Bride and Groom that were so personal and had everyone in the room laughing aloud and along with the couple.

While everyone went on a tour of the Castle and Museum we headed outside, as mercifully the rain had stopped, for a bit of quiet time and to get some natural portrait shots.

The food was an American themed barbecue style buffet, and as Joe is a gluten-free person, instead of the more traditional wedding cake, Lynsey and Joe had opted for a massive stack of macrons in stunning colours. It was a fantastic statement piece and went down a treat with everyone there!

Lynsey and Joe's first dance may have started as, what looked like, a more traditional slow dance, but it soon whipped up to a rockabilly dance which had them jiving across the dance floor and really displaying the wonderful dress in all its detail and swing! Soon everyone got into the party spirit and everyone was up dancing the night away. Never have I seen everyone get quite so caught up in the spirit, and the dance floor was full all night right up to the end.

It truly was a wonderful day and I feel so very privileged to have been part of it. Thank you, Lynsey and Joe, for choosing me to capture your story. I very much look forward to seeing you again to help create your album and go through all the photographs and memories.
